5 tips for Zero Waste living or the happiness of being in harmony with nature

More and more people in our country know exactly what the "zero waste" concept is based on, and its main idea is to leave less and less garbage after us, especially one that does not decompose. The good example and correct approach of many parents is already paying off. Many children are unaware of the bad habits of excessive use of disposable plastic products and unnecessary packaging, and many adults try to eradicate the bad habits imposed over the years.

It is clear that the super-consumer lifestyle is detrimental to both the environment and ourselves. But what can we do to live better? We often justify reckless purchases with foreign solutions or the impossibility of change, but the truth is that it is up to us to recycle, compost and reduce the generation of new waste. You still don't know what we're talking about ?! Here are a few super easy tips that will help you slowly ease into the zero waste living:

Bring your own cup / bottle / food box

Whether you've been to the mountains or the sea for the last time, you've probably been impressed by how many plastic cups and straws are used for just one day away from home. And this is detrimental to nature. If you believe that recycling plastic can solve the problem, you are wrong. The straws cannot be processed at all, and the cups have a limit of a number of times. Therefore, when traveling, bring your own bottle and food box. It is great to sit on a bench in nature and enjoy nature while eating delicious homemade food or sipping hot tea, which on the way back to replace with spring water. Or at a nearby beach bar, politely offer your glass for all kinds of drinks during the day - for example, a smoothie for the child or fresh for you.

Use reusable wax wrapping / organic cotton towels

And while we are still on the note of traveling, if you are not a fan of expensive resorts, and prefer holidays out in the nature, then you know that in your luggage you must have wax paper for food storage, instead of the well-known, but not the spirit of Zero Waste philosophy transparent or aluminum foil. It is made of a type of plastic that is difficult to recycle due to its small volume and contamination by food waste, at the expense of the wax cloth made of natural materials to decompose naturally when the time comes.

We also advise you to get ecological reusable wipes made of organic cotton. Very pleasant to use, they offer a good ecological and economical alternative to cleaning wet disposable towels, which cause permanent damage.

Use natural decorations

Seasonal and holiday decorations are beautiful and cozy, but have you thought about how much they pollute the environment? During the holidays there is an oversupply of various lights, toys, wreaths, candlesticks and figurines. And if during the past Christmas you have overdone the festive spirit to compensate for the lack of socialization with friends and relatives, try to festively decorate the home with natural materials and plants.

This spring you can try a bouquet of fresh carrots, which you can eat as a fresh salad afterwards. As well as recycling old watering cans, jars and ceramic dishes, with a little skill and more imagination turn them into pots for new flowers and spices that will both decorate your home and come into use in the preparation of fragrant culinary specialties.

Shop in bulk

It turns out that in Europe there are 200 kg per capita. packaging per year. Efforts to reduce disposable waste are in the direction of bulk shopping and unpackaged products. All over the world, and already in our country, there are shops for bulk products, food, cosmetics and others. So do not hesitate and prepare textile bags in which to store bulk legumes, spices and pasta. Don't forget to return empty cosmetic packaging to selected brands and replace it with new ones. This way you will be both beautiful and aware.

Use textile bags

And speaking of bags, remember - plastic bags are not only not cool, but they are the biggest punishment for our planet. There are many different types and sizes of bags made of natural materials - such as cotton, linen and sackcloth, which are suitable for both the market and for meetings with friends. They give complete freedom to the imagination and are undoubtedly an indispensable accessory for men and women, with and without children. Some are branded, others are not, some are monochromatic, others with colorful designs, with large and small handles, with additional pockets, zippers and buttons. As you like, as long as they don't have plastic on them, haven't you forgotten?!. And if you want to be a real trend, be sure to get nets for the market, similar to those of our childhood - compact, in beautiful colors and very, very compact.
